Bob’s Bridge

Rustic, Remote, and Utterly Relaxing!

From the moment you turn off Hidden Valley Road and pass through the lovingly created stone entranceway, you’ll feel your blood pressure and stress levels diminishing. It’s not Sherwood Forest, but the meandering driveway will take you up a gentle slope until you come to a breathtakingly beautifully-crafted stone bridge – Bob’s Bridge. It’s the perfect place to sit a spell, grab your sketchbook or journal, and let the cares of the outside world fade away. That’s because Bob’s Bridge is all about the simple life. The three-bedroom cottage is rustic, relaxing, and remote. You can sit on the porch swing for hours, but there won’t be a neighbor in sight – except for the deer and turkeys that wander through or stop for a drink from the babbling brook.

You can spend all your time just relaxing, resting, and rejuvenating in the serenity of Bob’s Bridge, or you can plan to head up the mountain (same road) to visit the spectacular, unspoiled beauty of Hidden Valley Lake, checking out the vistas that will give you a view all the way to the Great Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, dropping a line for a whopper of a great day of fishing, or hiking the many trails in the area, including the Great Channels via Brumley Mountain Trail.

The accommodations are just like the man who created them and called Bob’s Bridge home for many years…simple, unassuming, and geared towards relaxation and enjoying the magnificence of nature. There are three bedrooms (two queen and one with bunk beds), a large, comfortable living room just made for hanging out together, a cozy kitchen with a handmade stained glass window and everything you need to whip up a country breakfast or a quick picnic to take on your adventures, and a porch with a fabulous view and an antique swing that’s perfect for sipping coffee and remembering how to relax.

The owners of the property live just up the mountain a bit, but they love privacy and nature as much as you do, so you won’t see them unless you need something. It’s a peaceful paradise on the side of the mountain, but it’s only 10 minutes from both Abingdon, Virginia and Lebanon, Virginia, both wonderfully historic and filled with fun things to see and do.

In short, Bob’s Bridge is not only a tribute to a man who loved nature and building with stones he found on the mountain, but a place to unwind, kick back, and remember what it’s like to be stress-free – even if only for a few days.
